Are the Gays in Africa Really Gay

I like the west very much, I really do, but I keep on wondering how Africa would have been if the west didn’t exist. My next question in that line is always, would there have been gay people in Africa or all the gay people just copied or got brainwashed by the current westernization that is so prevalent in Africa.

I tried doing some research on the same and i can say that they history of LGBT in Africa become the coming of the whites in Africa. The only evidence of gay people in Africa is the case of King Mwanga II of the Buganda Kingdom. Kind Mwanga the second was openly gay and he was not criticized by his subjects as noted by The Guardian’s writer Bisi Alimi. However, I tend to have some issues with his article on Gayism being an African thing considering the fact that he is gay and an activist for the LGBT group. If you will disagree with this article kindly read Alimi’s article here:

However, truth be told, very few gays are born with homosexuality as their sexual orientation. Majority of the people who are now gay derive their sexual orientation from peer pressure. There are those who decide to be guy just to be different from other people. The urge to be different is very common especially among generation Z and millennials. For this reason, many would engage in homosexual behaviors so that they can be the talk of town or the talk in school.

However, their is another cause which is rather sensitive. There people who are born with confusing physique. For instance, a boy can be born with many female features which confuse them from an early age when it comes to which sexual orientation they should align with. The same applies to girls who are born with male like physique. Such kind of people will often be stigmatized in the society and discriminated to an extend that they decide to assume the sexuality that they are frequently associated with.

The media, particularly film has played a critical role in influencing Africans to engage in homosexuality. It is thus evident that many people are not born gay. The gay sexuality is picked up by people in Africa as they grow up. Many Africans have been westernized and brainwashed and that is why there is a rising number of gay people in Africa.
