The judiciary and executive are still at a stalemate after President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed only seven or the eleven nominated judges to the court of appeal.
Speaking at the swearing in of the new president of the court of appeal Justice Daniel Musinga, CJ Martha Koome said that it is unfortunate that four of the eleven judges who should have joined them for the ceremony were left out for unknown reasons.
CJ Koome said that she is duty bound to reiterate her position and call on the president to appoint the remaining judges.
Speaking at a different venue, former prime minister Raila Odinga said that the country deserves to be informed on the reasons that led to the rejection of the judges.
Among those who the president didn’t appoint are also Registrar of the High court Judith Omanga and Chief Magistrate Evans Makori who had been recommended to the Environment and Lands court.
