Diamond Platnumz, also known as Simba was born Naseeb Abdul Juma. He is an award winning Tanzanian singer, composer, and dancer.
He is the founder of WCB Wasafi/Wasafi Media/Zoom Production and serves as its Managing Director (MD). Platnumz performs Afro pop and Bongo Flava music genres.
Diamond Platnumz Birthplace and Early Life
Diamond Platnumz was born on October 2, 1989, at Amana Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Nasibu grew up in Tandale’s western district, where he shared a house with his mother and grandmother. As a result of unresolved tension between his parents, his father was absent from the picture.
An interesting facet of his lifestyle apart from coming from a humble background and a booming music career, he is popularly known for being a playboy. Also, majority of his fans believe that he has a thing for older women considering the fact that he publicly dated Zari Hasan who was ten years older than him. Together with Zari, they have two children. After their separation, he had another child with Hamisa Mobeto – a Tanzanian model cum singer. After which he got into a relationship with Tanasha Donna Oketch, a kenyan based radio presenter and musician. Diamond and Tanasha have a child together; Dilan.
Diamond’s parents are Ms. Sanura Kasimu and Mzee Abdul Juma. He was born and raised in Tandale, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. His siblings include; Esma Platnumz, Queen Darleen and Romeo Abdul Jones.
Why Diamond is the most famous musician in East Africa
Diamond Platnumz’s diverse musical career has led him to collaborate with a wide range of iconic musicians such as Neyo, Omarion, Fally Ipupa, Rickross among others. Naseeb’s great fame and worldwide recognition have also helped him land large and lucrative Brand & Product endorsement deals. He is the current brand ambassador of pepsi and its said that he secured a lifetime deal with the company.
Even Kenyan gospel musicians such as Willy Paul Msafi and Kelvin Bahati, for example, admire and look up to his legacy. As a result, Bahati founded the EMB Records record label while Willy Paul Msafi founded the Saldido International Record Label.
Notably, the two themed Kenyan Gospel male-dominant performers took their separate ways to complement Diamond’s musical approach. Diamond Platnumz’s Music Journey
Tandale was a difficult place to live because his mother didn’t have a steady source of income. Nasibu, his mother, and his grandmother were forced to share a single room and rent out the remaining two rooms that were originally intended for Nasibu and his mother in order to pay the expenses.

When Did Diamond Platnumz Realize His Music Breakthrough?
Diamond met Msafiri Peter nicknamed Papaa Misifa in 2009, and he decided to help Diamond develop his talent financially. They recorded his debut track, “Nenda Kamwambie,” as a tribute to his ex-girlfriend who abandoned him while he was broke. Diamond’s career in the music industry began with the song.
In 2010, Diamond released his debut album, Kamwambie. Two years later, the best-selling Lala Salama was released. He also appeared in an edition of the Big Brother Africa reality show in 2012.
In 2010, he endorsed Jakaya Kikwete, the presidential candidate of Tanzania’s biggest political party, the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). He also released CCM Tusonge Mbele (CCM Let’s Move Forward), a remix of his tune Mbagala. Diamond is managed by Tanzanian music industry veterans Babu Tale and Saidi Fellaaka Mkubwa Fella TMK.
On March 14, 2018, Diamond Platnumz released his debut album in Kenya. Many consider Diamond Platnumz’s songs to be the most popular ever recorded by a Tanzanian musician. The film A Boy From Tandale was released on March 14, 2018.
