William Ruto was a brilliant student from the beginning and continues to be so today. He is the first Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, a position that is similar to that of a vice president, and has been engaged in Kenyan politics. Before entering politics, he worked as a teacher, and it appears that the politician was excellent at his job and acquired a lot of respect in that field.
Ruto first entered politics when he began advocating for ‘KANU’ presidential candidate Daniel arap Moi. This campaign was not only a huge success, but it also demonstrated the political abilities of this leader.
His ability to lead helped him gain election to numerous government roles. Throughout his political career, he has encountered numerous challenges and has been accused of numerous wrongdoings. Several criminal proceedings against him are still pending at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
However, this has had no effect on his popularity among the general public, who have always backed him. He was a member of the committee in charge of constitutional revisions. He is now unattached to any ministry and continues to serve as Kenya’s Deputy President. Continue reading to learn more about this leader, his works, and accomplishments.
Early Life of William Ruto
On December 21, 1966, he was born in the Kamagut district of Kenya’s Uasin Gishu county to Daniel and Sarah Cheruiyot. Ruto received his primary education at a Kamagut primary school before enrolling at Eldoret’s “Wareng Secondary School.” Ruto enrolled in the ‘Kapsabet High School’ in Nandi to pursue his A-level education after completing his O-level education.
Later, he joined the ‘University of Nairobi’, where he enrolled for a bachelor’s degree. He specialized in subjects such as Zoology and Botany, as a part of this course. He graduated in 1990, and topped his class for which he was offered a scholarship to pursue his master’s degree at the same university.
In 1991, he enrolled for an MSc at the university, but a year later, he postponed the course for other engagements.
Political Journey of William Ruto
In 1992, he joined the party ‘Kenya African National Union’ (KANU), in their election campaign to support the party’s founder, Daniel Arap Moi.
He was a candidate of the ‘Kenya African National Union’ (KANU) and entered the political sphere of Kenya, after he was appointed as a Member of Parliament for the Eldoret North constituency, in the year 1997.
In 2002, he was elected as the Assistant Minister of Home Affairs, and in the same year, he was again elected to the Parliament.
This leader became the Secretary General of ‘Kenya African National Union’ (KANU) party, in the year 2005.
William announced in the year 2006, that he would contest the Presidential elections, which was to commence the next year. However, this decision of the leader was not supported by his ‘KANU’ comrades. So, he tried to file the candidature from the ‘Orange Democratic Movement’ (ODM), but failed to get a nomination.
In 2007, William parted ways with the ‘Kenya African National Union’ (KANU) party and resigned from its secretarial post.
In the presidential elections of 2007, there were differences in the decision as the election commission announced that the ‘National Rainbow Coalition’ candidate Mwai Kibaki as the president, while the exit polls showed another Kenyan politician and candidate for the presidential election, Raila Odinga, as the winner.
However, Kibaki was elected as the President of Kenya and soon after, both Kibaki and Odinga came to a mutual understanding and decided to form a coalition cabinet.
The coalition cabinet was finally formed in 2008 and William Ruto was elected as its Agricultural Minister.
This political leader was shifted to the Higher Education Ministry from the Ministry of Agriculture in the year 2010.
In 2011, the politician stepped down from his responsibilities as a minister, but he continued to be a Member of Parliament. The same year, this leader completed his Masters course in Environmental Science.
The ‘Law Society of Kenya’ (KSK) blacklisted some individuals on charges of corruption in the year 2012, and asked the public not to vote for the ones cited in the list. Although Ruto’s name was in the list he managed to get a huge number of votes the next year, when he was a running mate to the current Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ruto along with Kenyatta formed the coalition party named ‘Jubilee Alliance’, in order to contest the presidential election jointly.
In the 2013 Presidential Elections, Uhuru Kenyatta was voted as the President and William Ruto was elected as the Deputy President of Kenya.
Milestones
William Ruto and Rachel Chebet are married since 1991. They knew each other since their college days, way before tying the knot. The couple has been blessed with six children since then.
In 2009, he was allegedly blamed to have unlawfully sold maize, which belonged to the government. However, all these allegations were nullified by the deputy speaker of the Parliament.
It is said that William has huge number of shares in the insurance company ‘Amaco Insurance’.
He was accused of being involved in planning and plotting against president Kibaki, as a result of which violence broke out in the elections and the Criminal Court asked him to be summoned. The political leader also has many criminal charges against him.
Marriage is a lovely thing, but only when you meet the right partner who is willing to put up with all of your shortcomings. When things go wrong, however, most couples have just discovered that divorce is a possibility. The breakup of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and his stunning wife Lillian Ng’ang’a has sparked a lot of discussion. The fact that the two lovebirds have been together for years has left netizens perplexed as to why they have finally broken up.
Akothee comes to Mutua’s rescue
Akothee, a musician and a business woman, has spoken out on the topic, stressing that the duo should not be criticized. According to Akothee, most people who are in unsatisfactory relationships are the first to criticize Alfred’s separation from Lillian.
On Sunday, Mutua and his wife acknowledged that they were no longer together, releasing a statement claiming that they had divorced amicably. They went on to say that they are still excellent friends and will stay in touch.
Amerix, officially known as Eric Amunga is a Bungoma-based medical specialist and masculinity coach who has been sweeping the social media world with his out-of-the-box solution to controversial life situations.
On Twitter, he is recognized for the popular #MasculinitySaturday hashtag, where he speaks out about subjects such as relationships and offers advise to males.
His lessons are so popular that he now has over 300,000 followers on Twitter and has been verified.
However, little is known about his political ambitions, despite the fact that in 2016, he expressed interest in running for the Bungoma Central Ward seat, which is held by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Amerix has been in the forefront of a number of masculinity issues, and his suggestions have sparked controversy among Kenyans.
As a result, #MasculinitySaturday has become a popular subject, and men have become ardent followers of his story.
In previous interviews, he indicated that the hashtag was created to encourage men to express their struggles. He refers to it as a “safe zone” where males can express their concerns.
He stated that the male gender should adhere to society’s clearly defined roles. Taking leadership, becoming the man of the house, and leading the family are all part of this.
“Your presence as a man will be felt if you play your role as the man of the house. You don’t have to be there changing diapers,”
Amerix stated during a past interview on NTV.
When male children interact with female children, their father, a father of two boys, pushes for a particular level of decorum. This, he says, helps youngsters acquire a sense of responsibility.
“They (boys) have to learn that they are given the responsibility to take care of the girl. I don’t teach them to touch them, kiss them. In fact, I tell them don’t cry in front of girls,” he added.
However, some members of the audience have objected to his unorthodox suggestion.
Some accuse him of duping men into a conventional lifestyle in which the mother’s responsibility was to care for the children while the father provided for the household.
He has previously discussed his quest to a healthy lifestyle, which included shedding 40 pounds in seven months. He revealed that he struggled with obesity in 2018 and adopted a fitness lifestyle, which contributed to his weight loss journey.
“The experience was burdensome and torturous at the start; I almost gave up but I was resilient. I pressed on until I began seeing small changes. The results kept me pushing further until I reached my periodic targets,” Amerix stated.
Brenda Wairimu and Juliani, a hip hop artist, had been together for almost a decade before calling it quits.
However, this romance resulted in the birth of a lovely girl, whom they both adore and who they continue to keep hidden from the public eye, though we can’t blame them.
Due to internet bullies who pick on anyone and everyone, the two parents wish to keep their daughter off social media.
Many people have been wondering why Brenda Wairimu walked out of what seemed to be a beautiful relationship. Well, we got answers and just like Obare, we are going to spill the tea.
Brenda Wairimu recently revealed why she never dates again in a tweet, and from where I sit, I believe she is still bitter/hurt by a man with whom she had a kid and was wanting to settle down.
Ms Brenda wrote on her Twitter account:
Eating debonairs alone in an AirBnBand I remembered the time I found out I was being cheated on because we ordered Pizza and debonairs sent it over to her house instead and called to tell us
Please don’t let me date again.
And I can’t help but wonder if Brenda was high at the time she posted the tweet, or if she was just in a bad mood, because she later removed it!
Juliani’s Response
Because Twitter seems to be violent place lately, Juliani is said to have responded to the tweet as she wrote it.
Juliani, on the other hand, disputed the allegations in a subsequent Tweet, writing:
All I can say is that coparenting has its ups and downs, especially when feelings are involved, and Brenda and Juliani both need to clean up their act!
Some lawmakers, in the forefront being Ndaragua MP Jeremiah Kioni are preparing to petition the High Court in a move to postpone the election date to provide the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct boundary delimitation.
The move to push forward the 2022 elections will certainly trigger political fireworks in the country.
According to a group of MPs who are pushing this agenda, their move is dedicated to avert a constitutional catastrophe by conducting an election having electoral units that are illegal.
Opponents on this issue claim that an election cannot be postponed on the basis of constituencies.
Lawyer and constitutional expert Paul Aol told the Star;
“The reason is constituency boundaries are supposed to be reviewed between eight and 12 years. This means if a general election is coming and it is still within that time frame, then no law has been violated.
Paul Aol
“For example, if we went outside 12 years without review, then you can say the election is unconstitutional. But as things stand right now, the last review was done in 2012, meaning that from 2012 up to 2024, all the constituencies are still valid.”
The fourth wave of the Coronavirus pandemic will peak in mid-July, the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) has predicted.
In a recently released report, KEMRI predicts that there will be a surge in Covid-19 infections in the coming months while attributing it to the Indian variant which is said to be more lethal with severe symptoms.
According to Citizen, the report alludes that the Indian variant is slowly gaining dominance with Nairobi and Coastal counties predicted to be the worst hit by the fourth wave.
Over the past couple of days, Covid-19 cases have continuously increased more so in the Western, Nyanza and Nairobi regions.
For instance, the other day on Thursday 1st 2021, 376 new Covid-19 infections were recorded in the country with the cumulative caseload now at 184,537.
Nairobi was leading in terms of county distribution having recorded 174 cases. Kisumu, Siaya, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega and Busia also followed closely.
In a presser yesterday, Acting Director-General of Health Dr Patrick Amoth urged netizens to heed the directives issued by the Ministry of Health to avoid a surge in cases come mid-July.
“We believe the measures we put in place in June will prevent a second wave in July,” Dr Amoth said.
Consequently, last month, the government initiated tougher containment measures for 13 counties said to be Covid-19 hotspots.
Through a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that the hotspot counties constituted 60 percent of the national Covid-19 caseload.
These counties are Busia, Vihiga, Kisii, Nyamira, Kakamega, Bungoma, Kericho, Bomet, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Siaya, Homa-Bay and Migori.
With the recently held World Safari Rally (WSR) Competitions held in Naivasha with disregard to Covid-19 containment measures, more cases are likely to be reported in the coming days.
